Initially, car mounted cameras were used for reverse assist and recording while driving. They were mainly used for viewing images and videos captured by the camera, with a resolution of several hundred thousand pixels that met the basic requirements. As the functions and application scenarios expanded, the focus of camera applications shifted to assisting the system in perceiving the surrounding environment while driving.
The system now has higher requirements for camera resolution, starting from 300,000 pixels and upgrading to over 1 million pixels, and currently 2 million pixels. With the continuous improvement of technology and increasing market demand, future advanced autonomous vehicles are planning to use high-definition pixel cameras with 8 million pixels to identify and monitor targets at longer distances.
